It was some years ago when music-lovers of Toshiba Corporation gathered to establish an orchestra consisting entirely of the company's employees. The enthusiasm of the members towards music led the orchestra to grow rapidly and it now has a membership of over 110 compared with an initial 50. Members include engineers, researchers, salesmen, senior managers and administration staff.
Since its establishment the TPO has tried, through music, to contribute to local communities where Toshiba has manufacturing operations.
It is often said that music is a universal language that can transcend cultural barriers like no other medium of human expression. We sincerely hope that the TPO will help to enhance mutual understanding between people and cultures.
